A Book Review

08 Apr Reviews | 3 comments

Okay, I admit it. I sometimes only skim the book or read a few chapters and then put the back cover blurb on here to help spread the word about a book. Who has time to read all these books? And anyway, just because I like something doesn’t mean you will. But this book is different (boy, is it different!). I read it in one day! I couldn’t put it down! Here’s a bullet list of why I love Imaginary Jesus:

  • It’s hilarious
  • It’s so crazy and relatable even my teenage son would read it. (This is my middle son I’m referring to. The one who would rather clean the bathroom than read a book).
  • It has its heavy-hitting moments (pun intended) where you realize erroneous mind-sets about Jesus. I found myself reevaluating my idea of Jesus and who He really is.
  • Did I mention it’s hilarious? Laugh-out-loud funny. Like reading a stand-up comedians act (a really good stand-up comedian).

Imaginary Jesus is about a guy who gets his mind blown when he discovers that the Jesus he has been following is not the real Jesus at all! With lots of adventure, some time travel and other wacky events that I can only imagine came from a very crazy mind, Matt Mikalatos takes you through his journey in finding the real Jesus.

You can read more about Matt here. And you can purchase Matt’s book here or here.!

P.S. This is the kind of book that would be great on audio!

    Jamie–

Wow. Thank you so much for this great review. I wish I could think of something funny to say to prove I am hilarious, but I’m speechless. Well, not completely speechless but, you know, figuratively speechless. Many, many thanks for this.

I was just thinking that I would head to the store and try to find the book at lunch. But hey, if he wants me to have his signed book….I’m all for that. I’m actually speaking on worshiping God in truth this month. I’m thinking he might have some great insight.

Wasn’t too sure about the title at first but, from the reviews, sounds like an interesting take on the subject and a worthwhile read … it is now added to my list of books to be read in the (hopefully) near future.
