Jenna Tikaani-Gray and her twelve-year-old daughter, Andrea, are on their way home, hoping for a fresh start after a lifetime of medical trials and great sorrow. But when sabotage brings their small plane down, they find themselves fighting for their lives. And they don’t know what’s more dangerous: the weather and terrain of Sultana—one of the most hazardous mountains in Alaska—or the armed men chasing them.
Hardened by the loss in his life, Cole Maddox knows the best path is one he walks alone. No one to care for—or about. That way he can focus on what matters: getting a secret technology safely into the hands of the US Military. But when the plane he’s on with Jenna and Andie crashes, it will take all his skill and strength to get them out alive—and all his determination to stay in his self-imposed solitary confinement.
Today I am thrilled to welcome a mother and daughter writing team to my blog! Kimberley Woodhouse and her daughter, Kayla, have written an Alaskan adventure. Here is what some people are saying about it:
No Safe Haven is a page-turner on several levels–adventure, excitement, and compelling characters. But I’m fascinated that it was written by a mother and her teenage daughter, and that the young character in the book suffers with the same disorders that Kayla Woodhouse has. That gave it more texture and urgency, and made it difficult to put down. I look forward to seeing more from these authors.

No doubt about it, Kim and Kayla Woodhouse are a dynamic writing duo of action, romance and living out faith! The Woodhouse’s debut novel, No Safe Haven, is a thrilling adventure of the heart and mind as Jenna and her daughter Andie flee an unidentified threat against the backdrop of the beautiful yet unforgiving landscape of Alaska. With tenderness, authenticity and emotion, Kim and Kayla have drawn a captivating mother and daughter relationship, one stretched and strengthened by tragedy and ongoing medical struggles. Andie’s voice is the perfect blend of sass and innocence, lending a joyousness to this thrilling tale and reflects Kayla’s natural talent for storytelling and characterisation. Kim provides plenty of action and attraction in this unique and intriguing story. No Safe Haven is a brilliant start to what will be an unmissable series from this mother and daughter team.

I’d only made it to page 8 when I realized I was holding my breath. Shivers are still traveling up my arms from a story that is both dramatic and heart-warming. My favorite element is the mother/daughter storytelling. Kimberley and Kayla’s unique point-of-views breathed life and truth into the story. I loved it

I know this exciting mother-and-daughter writing team, and they’ve produced a nail-biting thriller of a novel that underscores the health threat Kayla has faced all her life. We see the character, Andie, live out Kayla’s own anxiety and challenge in growing up with a rare neurological disorder that she could not understand except that it threatened her life. Kayla has come to grips with her disorder and now she and her mother share their appreciation for nature and life while facing a neurological problem very few experience.

I asked Kimberley what she is most excited about with this book and she said:
The fact that this is the first novel that Kayla and I wrote together. I’m super-excited to see how people react when they read Kayla’s scenes. She’s so talented (yes, I’m Mom and I’m biased, but it’s true. I promise) and has an amazing testimony.
I can imagine that working with her daughter was such a special time! These beautiful authors have decided to give away a copy! To enter, just answer this question in your comment (don’t forget to leave a way to contact you, should you win!:) – What is a favorite memory of a special time with your mother?
Happy Mother’s day to all you moms out there! xoxo!!

So many favorite times with my mother, but I will give you a recent one. A year ago we took a trip, just the two of us, to all the places that Laura Ingalls Wilder lived. We listened to the Little House books on tape as we drove, and Mama saw and heard a lot of things that reminded her of her own childhood.
Jamie, Kimberley, and Kayla,
I popped over from the Indiana American Christian Fiction Writers loop to check this out. What a fascinating scenario, to put Kayla’s illness into a fiction story.
It’s hard for me to choose just one story about my mother and me. We have done so many things together and we still do. A couple of years ago she went with our family to Washington DC. It was a road trip we all will never forget.
I’d love to win the book. My daughter is 11 and loves to read. Is this a story for all ages, or more for adults?

Kathryn, what a great idea! I would love to go on such a trip with my mom.
My sister and I took my mom to Gatlinburg, TN and the Smokey Mountains one year and we had a blast. It was February and cold but not crowded. We did have a funny moment when deep in the national park we figured out that all the restrooms were locked up! I think I exceeded the speed limit getting us out of there.
Enjoy reading the post gals. And I now cherish all of the times I had with my mom. We lost her Sept 16,2011 so this with be the first mothers day without her. She was so precious, she always thought of everyone else instead of herself. I miss her so much! I think I would have to say her last night with us, she knew she wouldn’t live through the night. She was so strong, she was encouraging us….saying that she was ok, she would be in Heaven with her Lord by the next morning. What a blessing! Sunday will be a difficult day for our family.
Unfortunately I lost my mom in April, 1995 but due to Dementia I actually lost her a long time before that. Favorite memories that I have with her are when I was newly married and my hubby was in the Navy and she would come over and her, I and my baby daughter would have time together. That was very special time.
Oh, Joy and Jo, I’m so sorry to hear about your moms! I pray God will wrap his arms around you and comfort you this year on Mother’s Day and give you a peak of the glorious place that heaven is. Tears for you both!
This sounds like a book my daughter and I would enjoy reading together.
