(Love the woman on this cover, btw! I’ve written about a few platinum blonds and she fits very well!)
When I first heard about Marylu Tyndall’s books full of pirates and spies, adventure and danger, well . . . I was intrigued! Then, after reading some of her blog and facebook posts, I knew I had found an author who went deep and wide in the wisdom of God. I am so pleased to tell you about another inspirational romance writer (especially since my pirate novel is coming out in September!) And she’s giving away a copy of her latest book, Surrender the Night! Please give a warm welcome to Marylu Tyndall!! http://www.mltyndall.com/index.html
A timid American farm girl at the mercy of the enemy. . .
A wounded British sailor driven into hiding. . .
Both are about to change the course of history forever.
When British soldiers invade Baltimore amid the War of 1812, Rose McGuire, alone on her family farm, is easy prey for a brutal lieutenant. In the midst of the attack, she’s saved by British 2nd Lieutenant Alexander Reed. Will she now have to heal, as well as hide, this enemy soldier?
Alex hadn’t meant to kill his superior, nor get shot in the process. Now badly wounded, he’s at the mercy of this tomboy who obviously hates him. Can he trust her or will she turn him over to the Americans?
Rose is having trouble keeping Alex hidden from her family, the townspeople, and the man intent on courting her. Will the discovery of Alex’s presence force her to accept an abhorrent proposal?
As their love blooms, trouble looms, for the British are on the move again. This time, their target is Washington DC. Will these young lovers at heart find themselves enemies at war?
So Marylu, what are you most excited about with this new book?
I love the story of Rose and Alex, two of the most unlikely lovers caught on opposite sides of the war, as well as on the opposite sides of society. But ultimately this is a story about destiny. God’s destiny for each of our lives. We are all here for a reason, to accomplish a task or tasks. But so many of us miss our calling. In this story, I address two of the major reasons people don’t go forward with God. Fear and Rejection. When we overcome our past insecurities and our present fears and take a step out in faith, it’s amazing what God will do. Perhaps, as in the case of Rose and Alex, He will even help you save your country from tyranny!
If you would like a chance to win a copy of her latest book (just out this month!) then answer this question. What are some of your favorite archetypes for heroes? (Think men in uniform – lol) Pirates, soldiers, someone of the nobility like princes, dukes and earls and such, knights, someone of the trades like a blacksmiths, ranch owners or a sheriff in a western novel. Preachers, missionaries, firemen or cooks? Super heros? The list could go on and on. Think back to one of your favorite romances and the hero’s persona. Any favorite types??

WOW! Sounds like an awesome book:) I would love to be entered. And in answer to your question, I am in a strait:P I love reading cowboy heroes but at the same time I love my military guys:) Would be a hard pick. Thanks so much for the chance at winning this book!
I loved the first book in this series!
Hmmm…I love reading about men who are godly and have a sense of humor. I guess I would have to say I also enjoy reading about royalty and pastors/missionaries.
I would have to say my favorite is a military man. He is real, yet so courageous. He is patriotic, and humble. Any branch of the military would do, but my favorites are from WWII.
Oooh, this sounds like an excellent book! Thank you for hosting Ms. Tyndall here. I enjoy her works!
I think my favorite hero type in the historical fiction genre has to be pirates. There’s just something about a pirate that peaks my interest. Even the real ones, like Blackbeard.
For real heroes, I’m going with the armed services. Be they Marine, Air Force, Army, Navy, I admire and respect them. Being the daughter of an Army man, I hold much respect for them, and they always bring me to tears.
I’ve read books with heroes as pirates, soldiers, nobility, knights, etc. and loved them all. I think for me, I like a strong man who admits his weaknesses, and a sense of humor really adds to the hero.
I have two favorite types of Heros. One is the Mountain Man. Think of the character Byron Sully in Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Hot, rugged and so perfect. Who wouldn’t like a guy like that.
Another is a Prince, but he has to be a knight in shining armor as well or else what’s the use of him being

Another is a Prince, but he has to be a knight in shining armor and willing to get his hands dirty as well or else what’s the use of him being a Prince? A princess needs some adventure so he needs to be ready and willing.
(sorry about the double post – don’t know what happened)
I love to read about pirates and soldiers, both have a roughness about them, but are capable of revealing a softer side.
Hmm, I would have to say Special Ops.
Kinda handy to have someone so talented in defense there to protect you.
But that’s modern. Historically, I’d would pick Pirate or Knights – both r awesome! lol
Thanks for the chance to win!

I’m not sure it matters to me what he would be “wearing” as long as he put God first, be honorable, compassionate, and love me to distraction…oh wait, that’s my husband! But all that aside, I’d have to say a man in wranglers & chaps is mighty fine looking
I love heros who have made mistakes, reform, and become better men.
I am a fan of any hero who can admit he’s wrong and ask forgiveness.
I’ll have to chime in and say my recent favs are members of the nobility. I’m currently writing about a duke who is greatly suffering from an affliction that is really going to test him. I love me a tortured duke!
Pirates, nobility, cowboys, knights, military men, oh my! Thanks for all the comments, ladies… Heroes come in all forms. But like many of you have said, it’s the honor and godliness that is most important! And chivalry! Why has that died out? Sigh.
Anyway, for Katy and her special ops guys.. check out a new author, Ronie Kendig.. she writes about special ops heroes.
Blessings,
Thursday, March 3rd, 2011,
Well, I’d have to say that my favourite-type heroes … are “real men” … men who are commited, born-again Christians, not afraid to be sensitive, understanding, considerate, honest, faithful, upright, and have a sense of humour.
I would probably go for — pirates who are noble, gallant, and “gentlemen” — though swashbuckling and exciting !!! There is just “something romanctic” about the thoughts of being — swept away, and living on a pirate ship, sailing the waters of the World.
Secondly, I would go for — knights and princes — who would still have God first and foremost in their lives, are upstanding, repsponsible, mature (but fun-loving), reliable, trustworthy … and who would treat me with – respect, courtesy, kindness, thoughtfulness, and love me unconditionally … until death did us part !
Thank-you so very much for entering me into this contest. I can hardly wait to be reading this newest book !!! MaryLu Tyndall is a terrific author — keeping you in suspense from start to finish !
This book sounds great! Thank you for hosting Ms. Tyndall here. Thanks for a chance to win this book!
I think my favorite hero type in historical fiction is knights, something about an exciting man dressed to fight for his kingdom sounds delicious!
Or any nobility men! I also love when there is a forbidden romance between say a princess and a knight, awesome!
My favorite hero is a policeman or doctor or superhero or pastor-basicly, any godly man who does the right thing!
I love the blurb . Look forward to reading it. My very favorite character is a Scottish Highlander. I could read about them forever. Then there are the Special Ops, Cowboys, Pirates and Dukes.
Thanks for the opportunity to win.

My favorite hero is the everyday man who makes the tough choice to do the right thing. Would love to win this book!
My favorite hero tends to vary depending on the mood I’m in
But for historicals, it is often a pirate, knight, or perhaps a cowboy. For contemporary stories, I usually prefer a soldier, fireman, or someone in law enforcerment. The common thread in my favorite heroes is that they are all men of strong moral character who love God first.
I love so many different types. I love MaryLu’s and she has so much faith in them. I love Cowboys, Historicals, Victorian, Cops (Because I am married to one). I love men who are real and not afraid to show their feelings. They can be sensitive as well as strong.
Please enter me to win.
My favourite heroes would have to be knights and maybe military personel. Dads are my ultimate heroes though.
MaryLu’s books are impossible to put down. I can’t wait to read this one.
Please enter me!
I loved the first book in the series and cannot wait to read this one!! My favorite type of guy would probably be one that looks all tough on the outside, but on the inside is a big teddy bear!
My favorite hero would be one in any of the armed services. (and the story could span any decade.) There is no one as noble and courageous as someone willing to lay their life down for others. Soldiers have to have supernatural faith to embrace this lifestyle. They depend on God to bring them through each and every battle they face.(That is also why the men and women that are serving in our military are in my prayers every night.) I would love to win this book, it sounds amazing!
I like a hero who is all man (cowboy or what) and dedicated to Christ. I love MaryLu’s books and am anxious to read this one.
Sorry, folks. This contest is over. I have give-aways almost every Thursday and pick the winner on Fridays so stop back by for more chances to win!
