“Published” She Wrote! Indianapolis Women Authors Exhibit

A couple of months ago I was given the honor of being included in an exhibit at the Indiana Central Library recognizing Indianapolis women authors. The exhibit is entitled, “Published” She Wrote! Women Authors Exhibit. (Press release here.) While being humbled and delighted by the news, after visiting the exhibit, I was really blown away. I was invited to the beautiful, downtown Indianapolis Central Library where Chris Marshall gave me a tour of the exhibit. There I stood surrounded by the work of authors such as Madelyn Pugh Davis who created the “I Love Lucy” series for Lucille Ball, Kathryn Lasky, a prolific children’s author whose Ga’Hoole trilogy is the basis for an upcoming movie, and Joanne Landers Henry who wrote several stories for the Childhoods of Famous Americans, biographies for children that I remember checking out and devouring from my grade school library. Reading those biographies sparked an interest in history for me that has influenced my work today. It was such a serendipitous moment to be included in a celebration of Indianapolis writers with her and so many other wonderful authors! After the tour, I was interviewed by Jon Barnes of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library’s Communications Department, filmed by Randy Starks.

A big thank you to Chris, Jon and Randy and to the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation! I am truly blessed to be a part of this wonderful exhibit.

You can visit the exhibit through December 2011 in the Nina Mason Pulliam Indianapolis Special Collections Room (located on the 6th floor) at the Central Library.
