I had heard from my publicist that The Snowflake received a good review from my favorite romance reviewers, Romantic Times. Alas, when I went to the bookstore to get my copy they already had the next months magazine on the shelves. (I really need to renew that subscription!). I stumbled upon the review today online and it’s so great! I love the way the reviewer, Patsy Glans, worded her thoughts about the story:
Four Stars ****
“This is a small book that packs a lot of heart and love into the pages. Carie has written a joy of a novella with a message intertwined in its pages. People are like snowflakes: we are all different, but God loves us all the same; He does not love one person more than the other. Don’t miss this powerful story that’s perfect for the holidays.
Alaska, 1897. Ellen Pierce and her brother are determined to reach Alaska during the gold rush days. When their steamship gets stuck in ice, it appears all aboard will perish unless they dare to leave what could become their frozen grave. Buck Lewis leads everyone off the ship and they trek on foot to Dawson City. It is a dangerous walk due to the extreme cold, but he feels they have no choice but to try.
When the weather-beaten group arrives they have lost a few souls along the way, one of them Ellen’s brother. Ellen must face her future alone in a place with people she would not normally associate with. Buck needs to put closure on his past and leaves to track down the person responsible for his loss. Ellen and Buck need to come to terms with the guilt they both carry and learn there is always the One who will forgive them, even if they are having trouble forgiving themselves in order to have a future together.”
