A Book Review
Apr 8th
Okay, I admit it. I sometimes only skim the book or read a few chapters and then put the back cover blurb on here to help spread the word about a book. Who has time to read all these books? And anyway, just because I like something doesn’t mean you will. But this book is different (boy, is it different!). I read it in one day! I couldn’t put it down! Here’s a bullet list of why I love Imaginary Jesus:
- It’s hilarious
- It’s so crazy and relatable even my teenage son would read it. (This is my middle son I’m referring to. The one who would rather clean the bathroom than read a book).
- It has its heavy-hitting moments (pun intended) where you realize erroneous mind-sets about Jesus. I found myself reevaluating my idea of Jesus and who He really is.
- Did I mention it’s hilarious? Laugh-out-loud funny. Like reading a stand-up comedians act (a really good stand-up comedian).
Imaginary Jesus is about a guy who gets his mind blown when he discovers that the Jesus he has been following is not the real Jesus at all! With lots of adventure, some time travel and other wacky events that I can only imagine came from a very crazy mind, Matt Mikalatos takes you through his journey in finding the real Jesus.
You can read more about Matt here. And you can purchase Matt’s book here or here.!
P.S. This is the kind of book that would be great on audio!

Born in the small, historical town of Vincennes, Indiana, Jamie is the oldest of five children. When she was six, her parents accepted Christ as their Savior, which changed everything. Excited about Jesus, her dad decided to take a giant leap of faith and start a church. Some of her favorite memories are the road trips she used to take with her dad, driving to home Bible studies across southern Indiana where Jim would preach. After a night of teaching and ministry, they would drive home and talk of things beyond earth’s bounds - creation and the fall, God and Jesus and the rapture, the earthly walk compared to the spiritual walk, and how we are born for more than what we can see or touch. The highlight of those nights was stopping at a truck stop where her dad would spend a little of the offering basket on two slices of pie and a couple of Cokes. Nothing ever felt so special as a middle of the night slice of pie with her dad. As Jamie grew closer to God and developed her own relationship with Him, she discovered a heart welling with songs and poetry.
