Summer is nearly over, the kids are back in school, and I have finished my lovely pirate story that I can’t wait for you all to read. I’ve had several people ask me what’s coming out next and what I am currently writing, so I thought I would catch you up. My first novella, a Christmas novella, The Snowflake, will be out in stores by October. If you haven’t seen the fabulous book trailer that B&H created for it (big thanks to Greg Pope!) you can view it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1yYBDjA6TY I only wish it was longer – like a whole movie longer!
Here’s the cover and back of the book blurb:
Ellen Pierce and her brother are determined to reach the Alaska gold rush. But when ice stalls their steamship, all seems lost, until Buck Lewis makes a decision: he’ll lead all who dare to follow on foot toward Dawson City. Buck is determined to leave behind a heartbreaking past. No amount of ice or weather will stop him. But he never counted on a woman joining a dangerous wilderness trek—or on falling in love with her.
As their journey unfolds and Christmas approaches, Ellen and Buck discover that the greatest gift of all can’t be wrapped in paper and tied with a bow. It comes from, and is received in, the heart. Come share in a soul-deep romance that gives a joyful reminder of a redeeming God who makes us each unique, yet loves us all the same.
Next summer my pirate book will be out, Pirate of my Heart. You can scroll down to the posts on Lady Kendra and Dorian (the dreamy American sea captain) below to get a peak into that story.
Now (drum roll please) I’m thrilled to be starting on my first 3-book series! The working title is The Forgotten Castles series. The first book is The Guardian Duke, set in Holy Island, England (complete with crumbling castle and monastery, of course) and Ireland! Now let me stop and say that I am mostly of French/Irish decent and while I have romanticized my French roots (hence Love’s First Light) my sister Jen, has embraced the Irish side. We often dream of going there together one day. This week I have dove into all things Irish - listening to Celtic/Irish music, researching the history and geography and trying to nail down the location of my forgotten castle in a land so mystical and changing that the possibilities are proving endless. I have a whole cast of zany secondary characters brewing for Lady Alexandria Featherstone to meet as she tracks clues as to the mysterious disappearance of her parents AND of course there is her new guardian, the man in charge of her pocket money and trying to boss her through his letters, Gabriel St. Easton the Duke of Somerset. Hidden in his London fortress something terrible has happened to him, something that will change him forever. He’s going to need Alex, her optimistic faith and open heart, to rescue him!
This next project will take a couple of years to complete so I will have to keep you posted on my progress. I appreciate any prayers for me, my family and my work as I plunge forward writing stories that I hope touch you and bless you!
